Financial Assistance

At Cornell’s Precollege Studies, we are committed to expanding college access by offering financial assistance to talented first-generation and/or low-income high school students each summer. This support is currently limited to students who are affiliated with select community-based organizations (CBOs) that support college preparation and have established partnerships with our program.

These community-based organizations identify students for this scholarship opportunity based on their interests and academic evaluations. The School of Continuing Education then reviews the candidates for admission to the Precollege Studies Program.

If you are currently working with a community-based organization, we encourage you to contact your advisor to confirm whether their organization has a partnership with Cornell’s Precollege Studies Program. Because these partnerships are managed directly with the organizations, we are unable to provide a list of community-based organizations we work with or share the names of specific community-based organizations focused on college preparation.

The School of Continuing Education is pleased to announce that high school students in Tompkins County will receive waivers of the $75 application fee as a new initiative to support high school students in our local community. These schools are:

  • Charles O. Dickerson High School (Trumansburg)
  • Dryden High School
  • Groton High School
  • Ithaca High School
  • Lehman Alternative Community School
  • Lansing High School
  • Newfield High School
  • New Roots Charter High School

Students attending any of these high schools can contact their guidance counselors for more information and instructions about how to receive this waiver. Students residing in Tompkins County, New York, who are home-schooled can contact the Precollege Program Director, Sam Elebiary, at sre47@cornell.edu, for information regarding the waiver.
