Commuter Program

Summer

Are you able to commute to Cornell’s campus in Ithaca, NY? If so, take an on-campus course this summer.

Study on campus this summer and earn credits while living “at home”

If you’re a high school student who lives nearby or plans to stay in the Ithaca area with your parent/guardian during your program, you can apply to take regular Cornell courses on the Ithaca campus during the summer sessions.

Academic opportunities

This is an unparalleled opportunity to study in person with Cornell instructors, challenge yourself with a college-level course, enhance your college application, and earn college credits.

The grades and credits you earn as a commuter student will be recorded on an official Cornell transcript that you may choose to share on your college applications. Credits are generally transferable toward a degree at Cornell or elsewhere, at that institution’s discretion.

Campus success

As a commuter student, you’ll have access to Cornell’s academic resources, including libraries, study spaces, and faculty office hours. On-campus housing is not available for this program. Commuter students must reside off campus with their parents or guardians. Students are not permitted to stay unsupervised in housing such as hotel rooms, Airbnb rentals, or hostels.
