Congratulations and welcome to Cornell University’s Precollege Studies! We can’t wait to meet you.

To get ready for an outstanding Cornell summer, there are several important pre- and post-enrollment steps that all students need to complete. Please review the items below, and the individual program accepted student pages for additional information, and orientation information.
Pre-enrollment
Step 1: Review important Precollege policies
Be sure to review all Precollege Studies policies.
Step 2: Complete your Pre-enrollement Check list
You will not be officially enrolled in your class(es) until all your required forms are complete. Please be sure to check your Accepted Student Portal or Parent/Guardian Portal periodically to ensure all available forms are completed.
- Acknowledgement Form
- Financial Responsibility Agreement
Step 3: Submit your Course Selection Form
Log in to your Accepted Student Portal to view and complete your Course Selection Form. You will not be officially enrolled until your course selection form and all the above required forms are complete.

Step 4: Activate your NetID and Cornell email address
Your NetID is your key to secure online services at Cornell. Activate it as soon as you receive an email with instructions. You’ll receive your activation email about a week after you’ve been admitted to the program.
Your NetID is a unique identifier that provides access to your Cornell email and other non-public Cornell resources and information. To protect your personal information and Cornell data, never share your NetID password with someone else.
If you have any questions about NetIDs or need help activating your NetID or setting up your Cornell email address, please contact the IT Support Desk during business hours.
Post-enrollment
Step 1: Pay your remaining program balance
You must submit any remaining program balance by the relevant date on the summer academic calendar. You may lose your place if you do not meet your payment deadline. All tuition for winter students must be submitted by the relevant date on the winter academic calendar.
Step 2: Submit important documents
Log in to your Accepted Student Portal to view additional required and optional documents for your enrolled program. Failure to complete these additional requirements may prevent you from participating in the program.

Canvas access & course syllabus
Most courses utilize the web-based learning system Canvas. If you are new to Canvas or want a refresher, watch this six-minute video Getting Started in Canvas for Students and check out the helpful Student Guides.
In addition, before your course starts, we’ll give you access to an optional short training: “Cornell SCE Precollege Studies Orientation.” Here, you’ll be able to explore Canvas features, review orientation materials, and complete a virtual scavenger hunt.
Generally, your instructor will contact you about two days before your class starts at your Cornell email address (your NetID@cornell.edu) with instructions for accessing the course syllabus, lectures, assignments, tests, homework, and additional information on Canvas. Please note that your course’s Canvas site may not open until the first day of class. Be sure to check your Cornell email frequently for updates from Cornell faculty and staff.
Purchasing course textbooks & materials
Please begin by reviewing your course syllabus to determine if textbooks or other course materials are required. You can find your course syllabus on your course Canvas site.
If your course requires an eTextbook, please note the textbook name, author’s name, ISBN (if provided), publisher, and edition. Then visit The Cornell Store to purchase your eTextbooks.
You’ll have several purchase/rental options (e.g., 180 days, one year, lifetime).
Check your class description for any additional required materials.
