Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

Our Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

Ever since Ezra Cornell and A. D. White joined forces to “found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study,” Cornell has been at the forefront of higher education in embracing diversity and inclusion.

As stated in the university’s Core Values, at Cornell “we strive to be a welcoming, caring, and equitable community where students, faculty, and staff with different backgrounds, perspectives, abilities, and experiences can learn, innovate, and work in an environment of respect, and feel empowered to engage in any community conversation.”

The School of Continuing Education (SCE) proudly reaffirms the values that underlie the vision of Cornell’s founders.

Our mission is to serve as Cornell’s gateway to a lifetime of learning, providing students of all backgrounds with innovative, flexible, and accessible educational opportunities that transform lives, advance careers, and positively impact communities around the world.

We are dedicated to pursuing a welcoming and inclusive environment, a diverse student body, and an open learning environment that is free from bigotry and bias. We do not tolerate prejudice in any form or discrimination on any basis.
