Academic Support

Professor’s office hours

We strongly encourage you to take advantage of your professor’s office hours and to reach out to your teaching assistant(s). One of the benefits of Cornell’s precollege program is access to these top instructors. They are your best, first stop for academic support.

Cornell Writing Centers

During the summer, you can take advantage of tutoring through the Cornell Writing Centers. The centers provide support for a wide range of writing projects, from applications and presentations to lab reports, essays, papers, and more. Visit the CWC website to make an appointment.

Cornell’s Learning Strategies Center

Cornell’s Learning Strategies Center (LSC) offers academic support services designed to help students master the academic rigors of Cornell and become actively engaged, successful, and independent learners.

For more information, visit the Learning Strategies Center.

Tips from Cornell’s Learning Strategies Center

Check out the Learning Strategies Center’s study skills page for lots of tips, including

  • How to use the Cornell note-taking system
  • Guidelines for creating a study schedule (PDF)
  • Letting go of test anxiety (PDF)

Cornell’s Learning Strategies Center encourages all students to take advantage of support services “because successful students ask for help when they need it.”

  • Be true to yourself and honest with everyone else.
  • Eat well. Drink lots of water. Get plenty of sleep.
